straight from a 94 service manual most likely the same engine as yours the 5.2 produces 300 lb.ft. torque under 9.1:1 comp at 3200 rpm

In "bad" air, a truck like yours (with 3.90's and limited slip diff) could manage 14.90's all day long, but if you have a late-year '93, you may have the more restrictive exhaust that was being phased in. That'll cost at least 10hp. If it's really late-year, it may also have the lazier profile cam that was officially introduced in '94. There's another 10-15hp, so you could run as slow as 15.6-15.8 in the quarter. Slip in a Magnum RT kit, MP PCM and headers, you're easily below the 14.5 mark, and that's before you put an M1 in (the cam really loves that intake), headers, or exhaust. If these numbers seem optimistic, remember that the '93 is lighter (at least a couple hundred pounds) than later GenIII models, and the weight distribution is better). You'll see a definite need for better traction at this point.

My 93cc5.2L auto w/3.92's ran 14.7. It did have a custom cam with a higher lift. The duration was only a couple degrees more than the factory 93 cam. I had the cam made at a custom cam shop in 1993. There wasn't anybody selling PCM safe cams back then. I took a chance that the specifications I gave them would work and it did. When my Mopar Performance PCM came in 6 months later it came to life. I was running 15.9 before any modifications. With the cat gutted, flowmaster muffler, custom cam, and PCM I nocked off 1.2sec. The cam cost me $500.00 back then. You can get them today for $150.00. The Flomasters are cheaper today than they were then also. The PCM has gone up for some reason. Oh, I forgot to mention that I custom made me a cold air induction. There weren't any aftermarkets available back in 1993.

It should run a 15 flat. With bad traction and high miles you might be 3-5 tenths slower. This should be acurate if the trans. is in good shape. I can say this is true at sea level.

I'm sorry if I waisted anyone's time on here that is actually on here to learn something....
They don't allow these Chevy-its in public schools and their parents can't afford private education. So we have to cut them some slack here and there.
Butttttttt!! For the life of me, I can't figure out why all these Chevy-its start referring to their body parts or other guys body parts when you get then cornered. At least the Ford guys that come on here talk about women...
Now I know why Chevy has the Faggs singing "I Feel Like A Woman" on the new Chevy Colorado commercial. It's all marketing. They have to appeal to most of the Chevy owners or they might loose them to Ford.

It's much easier and cheaper today to make HP with the 5.2L than it was in 1993. The cam I had made back then is real close to the R/T cam that Dodge will sell you through their Mopar performance catalog. Add the 1.7 rockers to the equation and you have a better setup than I had back then. I would get some headers. I don't know if they are worth a damn, but I believe it is Hedmann that has a set for the Gen2 Dak for like $250.00. The Mopar PCM is about $250.00. The cam is about $150.00. All these parts are readily available and they should work better than what I had 10 years ago. Even with the 3.55's I think you can easily be in the upper 14's for under a $1000.00. I might be wrong. You might have to find a 3.92 LSD. Another problem I think we have today is the gasoline. Even back in 93, there were only a couple of stations I could buy 93oct that would let me run in the upper 14's. Most of the gasolines today are a "blend" of gasoline, alcohol, and/or methenol. These alcohols/methenols run at much lower air/fuel ratios. Methenol is supposed to be ran at like 9:1 air:fuel mixture. When you put them in a 14.7:1 fuel mixture they detonate. I could not buy gas from any Exxon station. This became even more evident after I installed the Mopar PCM. There were times when I put in Exxon 93 that it wouldn't even hit the top speed limit of 117mph. With Citgo-93 it would pull hard all the way to 117mph and it would run 14.7sec on a good day. The first thing you need is gas with no Methanol or Alcohol blended in.
