Message: You should talk with Brian at PCMforless. You give him a list of modifications your vehicle has and he talors the computer to your vehicle. IE removing the programming for o2 sensors adjusting for a more aggressive cam, allowing the proper fuel curve for a 383 ect. He doesn't do Dak's but Im sure he might know where or how to hook up with someone who does. This is not as good as a chassis setup but you would be amazed at the results his business has been getting. My point in bringing this up is because for about 100 bucks you can have unlimited programming for your vehicle. Beats the almost 300 bucks for a power programmer that doesn't really do anything. As for my trans am, yes it was programed, by both a power programmer which I ditched for having something more specific done. I went to the track and programmed, ran, then went to stock programming than ran. There was no difference in time at all. The only thing I used my computer programmer for before I had it tuned was to turn the fans on at 160 and adjust for the 3.73's in the pumpkin. The firmer shift points were even a joke. As for my trans am not being properly tuned, thats all up to the tuner, but I was happy with the results I got with my lt1 edit program and my lap top as it sat up on that dyno.

Message: Sorry, I won't change my own oil. That's for kids making $10 an hour to do, or for people who are too cheap to pay for the service. Don't anyone start one about being able to use your own (better) oil, because most shops will do that too.
Brian-- since PCMforless does not have anything available for Dakotas, why are we even discussing it here?
chesster said it best-- a programmer can make all the changes a flash can, but a flash is a one-time serivce. Even if they re-flash for you, you need to send out your computer every time the dealer resets it or when you add performance upgrades.
I'm glad that you're happy with your Pontiac. I myself don't have one-- if I did, I'd be posting to a different board. Let's leave it at that.

Message: The no-power programer is crap and about as usefull as the throttle body spacer, iat adjuster, cold air intake that is available for the 4.7,we need a real mopar performance PCM,heads and intake to go along with the headers and cams. Its the 7 year powertrain warranty holding it up.

Message: I mention PCMforless because I figured they might know some place, or has the know how to do something for the DAK's. Don't you read? I will never have my oil change done at the dealership. They are sloppy and over tighten everything. They do not wipe the oil zerks off when they are finished lubing the steering linkages, and they think that if its not put on with an impact its not on tight enough. I still stand by programmers being trash, thus far they have yet to prove to me that they are worth a damn. Might as well buy a tornado while your at it.

Message: They all work on the same principle, they richen up the fuel mix so you computer can dial in more timing. Thats about the just of it.

Message: I thought it was the other way around... I thought the programmer adjusts the timing, which explains why you would see gains with higher octane fuel.
If all prgrammers do is add more fuel, then something like the IAT mod would be just as effective, right?

Message: From Hypertech's website, just to set the record straight:
"The Power Programmer III gives you optimized ignition timing and air/fuel ratio while letting you adjust shift points, shift firmness, make changes to the top-speed limiter and rev limiter (within the safety range of the vehicle's tire/brake ratings). You also gain the ability to correct your speedometer/odometer after a gear ratio and/or tire size change".

Message: Brian,
Good luck. I've never been able to convence anyone on this site on anything. Not even with scientific proof. They will believe all the B.S. they read from Hypertech. I personally havn't tried the tuner, but I'm so snake-bitten from all the other bogus crap Hypertech, Jet, Mopar Performance, and others have sold me that I want to see for myself someone going to the track and do a before and after run. Anyone in the Memphis area getting ready to purchase one of these please let me know. I want to see you make your run down the track and I want to see if and how bad your gas mileage goes down before I waist $300.00.

Message: I am giving you my personal experience on the HPP, it may not be for the DAK but its the same idea, different engine. If anything the lt1 has MUCH more room for improvement than the 4.7 does and responds MUCH better to bolt on's than the 4.7 does. Gas mileage goes down and times are the same, no difference with my car nor the multitudes of people on fbody.com who have used em. Take it or leave it bro. Good Luck.

Message: R/T Blues, what scientific proof has been offered? All we have heard is one person's dissatisfaction with his programmer on an entirely different engine.
I'm tired of hearing about Dodge vs. Others. You people are too proud. Let's stick to Dakotas, as the website says. If anyone can offer any relevant experiences or actual dyno results, I'd like to hear them, but please, no more opining.
It seems to me like every performance upgrade out there has people who swear by it and people who swear at it.
I'll be heading to dodgetalk.com, where people are more knowledgable and more pleasant. Goodbye.

Message: BoBB,
This isn't the first thread anyone has posted concerning the "Power Tuners". There have been several new threads posted just this year from people wanting to know if these things work. Most of those threads had no responses. I take that as a BIG NO! Like I said on another thread concerning the same topic. I WILL PAY SOMEONE to proove to me this thing works. Anyone in the MEMPHIS area?
I've contacted Hypertech 3 different times concerning what this thing can change as far as timing, air/fuel ratio, shift points, tire and gear changes, top end limiter etc.,etc., etc. and I got 3 different answers. So Hypertech doesn't even know what this damn thing can do or not do.
I'm still waiting, just like everyone else, for an answer.

Message: Brians Dak,
I e-mailed Brain at pcnforless.com
I gave him a short, few sentences of what my 4.7 had, and asked what he had for me.
I got a timely response, and he said he had nothing for dodges.
Oh well
