Subject: red line IP: Logged
Message: noticed that there is no red line on any dakota,
does any one know what the red line is on a 4.7
5 speed? im guessing around 5000rpm

Message: On my 2000 the yellow starts at 5500 and red at 6000. at full throttle my transmission shifts at 5500 and I really don't see a need to go higher. I'm not sure where the rev limiter kicks in.

Message: Your red line is at 6000. The valve train on the 4.7 is lighter than the other motors and there are no pushrods to worry about bending. I think the computer will protect you against accidently over revving but I suggest you verify this with someone else.
