Subject: Performance Exhaust IP: Logged
Message: I am thinking about installing some exhaust on my 2001 QC with a 4.7L What do people have to say about Gibson vs. Flowmaster? Or does anyone prefer any other exhaust?
Thanks

Message: first have the after cat cut off, the one without the o2 sensor in it, then go with a magnaflow, you'll love the sound its louder than idle and nice at cruising altitude but rips azz when you stomp it!
You gotta ask yourself one question...That Thing Got A HEMI???

Message: I have the single exhaust Gibson, it was easy to install (no mods -direct bolt on). The Gibson is not very loud and doesn't drone in the cab. If you want loud - it's not the Gibson. I believe (SOP) that I lost a little low end with the system. Mid range and top is smoother. BTW - bought from JC Whitney for about 265.00.

Message: I know I'll get a lot of hate mail...but the truth is I didn't notice any improvement other than sounds it good.. Only other mod is a K&N air filter. As a matter of fact the truck lost a little low-end power and mileage dropped about .5 mpg over stock. I get about 12-13 in town and about 15 to 15.5 on the highway at legal speeds.
(QC 4X$4 4.7). I've heard the diameter of the Gibson pipe is too large...but who knows........

Message: You won't find any cat back systems that add enough low end power to make them worth the trouble to install. Certainly not enough bang for the buck. The only reason to change is to make it sound better. Nothing wrong with that. But don't expect a big power improvement, because you won't get it. You can save a lot of money by changing the muffler only. That's a driveway project, cost is reasonable, and it will probably sound better.
