Subject: Rough idle, stalling IP: Logged
Message: I have a '93 v8 automatic 4x4 that has been giving me a ration of trouble the last week. It ran for a few seconds really rough and then stalled out. It wouldn't start. Was getting spark to the plugs, gas to the fuel rail. Finally took it to a shop and they diagnosed that it was the Pickup Coil in the distributor. I replaced that and it still wouldn't start. Towed it back to the shop. They replaced a bad IAC solenoid and it starts now, but it idles really rough still and dies out then I have to push the gas all the way down to get it to start and hold the gas down while I put it in gear for it to go without stalling out. It does seem to get to where it doesn't immediately stall out after it has warmed up for a few minutes, but still really rough. Looking for any advise I can get because they are going to try to tell me that the rough idle is just because it is a 318 (he already tried to tell me it runs smoother than his 318). I know it runs smooth because I've had it running smooth before.

Message: Kayleen:
It could be the EGR valve causing the problem. I had similar problems on my 95 dak. The O2 sensor could also be at fault, or even the engine coolant sensor for the computer for the air fuel mixture. I had all of these changed and the problem went away. Hope this helps!

Message: Kayleen, I have 1992 5.2 4x4 with 97,000 miles. I had a ruff idle on mine, it was the O2 sensor. On the Gen2 trucks, they should be changed every 60,000 miles.
