Message: I built an intake for my Dakota that works quite well, and was less than $30 too. I bought 18" of 4" industrial vacume hose@ $4 a foot, a can of fiberglass resin, and 8 square feet of fiberglass. It took me a week to complete (each layer of fiberglass takes nearly a day to cure.) I removed the stock cold air pipe that goes from the fender to the filter housing intake. Then I cut the matting that closes off the area behind the grill, from the engine bay. Then with the fiberglass I created a collector cone that fit snuggly in the 10" by 14" area to the left of the radiator behind the grill. Use the four inch diamiter hose to connect the cone to the filter box (you will have to push some hoses to one side or the other.)

Message: I was thinking about something like that also, however, there are a couple air conditioning lines right there that limit the area. I'm debating making a four inch hole in that horizontal plate in front of the air box and behind the head light. There are a few electric lines there, but I think they can be moved out of the way.

Message: jaydak99, make sure you put a K&N sticker on it so that it works as well as the $200 fipk.

Message: There are a/c lines right there, but they have some play in them and I was easily able to move them out ot the way. One had a screw and a clamp holding it in place. I removed the screw and clamp to get more room.
