Message: I feel kinda stupid asking on here, but my buddy has a 2001 silverado that make some noise, I think it may be the piston slap you guys always pick on chevy people about. Any idea how to fix it? Other than telling him to buy a dodge. I tried to get him to, but he is all about chevy's, even though his has 31'000 on it, and now has an engine knock. maybe for his next truck he will listen to me.

Message: This is a common chevy problem. Chevy has even bought some vehicles back for this. Do a search on yahoo or something and you will find more.

Message: chevy made the mistake of making their piston skirts something like .125" shorter than needed, thus the result, piston slap, does it happen all the time or just while warming up?

Message: Last longer? Hmmm thats funny mine didn't knock at 31'000, mine only had 170'000 on it when I sold it, and the lady has 226'000 on it now, without any problems. Anyways..... I think just when warming up, but I haven't actually heard the truck myself.
