Subject: Plug Wires IP: Logged
Message: So, when is the "right time" to change plug wires? How long do they usually last? Do you need to change them every so often even if they dont "look bad"? Just asking...
Thanks

Message: when your plugs go out, change the wires. it just depends on how long your plugs last. i change everything at once, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, filter, and sometimes PCV valve.

Message: Most spark plugs have 1 - 2 year replacement cycle with premium plugs longer. Replacing wires everytime you change plugs is an unneeded expense for most routine, daily drivers. If the vehicle is performing well (no stumble, misfire, loss of mileage, cold start difficulty, codes, etc.) there is no real need to replace wires until the normally expected service rolls around that says replace wires, as outlined in the service manual that came with the truck.
