Please Help!!
My 2002 dakota slt quad 4.7 is stuck in 4-Lo and the gear indicator (on the cluster) is cycling thru from park,reverse.....to first the starts over again. The tranny isnt trying to shift its just the indicator. It will drive fine in 4lo but wont go to 4hi or 2hi. When i move the 4wd selector to 2wd, the green light on 2wd flashes and the 4lo lifht stays on orange. I tried to reset the computer (negative terminal off and hold in the start position for fifteen seconds). No fuses that I see are blown!?!?!

Any Ideas??

Thanks,Tom

Yes, I am in neutral and stopped when trying to shift. Also I drove around the yard a bit thinking it was just a little stuck, but nothing. Also what would be up with the gear indicator rolling thru the gear positions (on the dash only, the tranny isnt shifting thru the gears) the tranny goes into what ever i but it into, but I have to do by feel.

tvesel,

if you're trying to reset the computer, it would be better to leave it off for 30 min or more. It probably doesn't have to be that long, but there's enough residual compacitance in the electrical system to keep power to the PCM for quite a while after disconnecting the battery.
