Subject: Gov. press. or speed sensor IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 Dakota 4.7L. I will be going about 50 mph and it acts like the govenor kicks in and will then be stuck in 3rd gear but wont exceed 50 mph. After this happens it does'nt want to start. Once it does decide to start again it runs like nothing ever happened. It has thrown 5 different codes. The codes are:
P0725 ENGINE SPEED INPUT
P1794 BATTERY VOLTAGE CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION
P0731 INCORRECT GEAR RATIO CONDITION IN 1st GEAR
P0320 MALFUNTION IN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT FOR ENGINE SPEED INPUT (CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, DISTRIBUTOR TACH. SIGNAL
P0123 THROTTLE POS. SENSOR IS HIGHER THAN EXPECTED
Has anyone heard of this problem before?
Could it be the gov. press. switch or speed sensor or something totally different?
Thanks, Mark

Message: Have you checked to see if your PCM connectors are on tightly? It sounds like your having either a connection problem or a PCM problem. The PCM is warranteed for 8yr/80,000 miles as part of your emissions warranty. If you think it's the PCM, take it to the dealer.
