Message: You guy are on your game.
I have a few questions:
I too have a 93 5.2 auto. My rebuilt engine went back with a Comp Cam max RPM range 6000. It suppose to be the largest for my engine with matching springs. Changed the convertor to Mopar 2800 stall, 98 RT Heads since the stock heads were cracked between valves (common). Pory and polished M1 intake-no EGR. 180 T-stat, electric fans. Mopar PCU, Block was -0-decked. K&N But it just doesn't have what I expected and my low end torque is low. Every once in a while I'll hear a backfire through the intake when I punch it from a steady speed, I have excesssive valve clatter under a load at time. My plugs have been dry and slightly white on the diodes (running lean?)
What would be priority?
1.6 rockers
6A-L Ignition with blaster coil.
Upgrade my stock exhaust manifolds to Doug's
Throttle Body upgrade
Does that turtle people talk about really help the M1?
What # are my injectors is they are yellow Siemens?
Sorry so much but I feel that I might get some answers with this crew.
Thanks in advance

Message: I was wondering what was under the dash where the windshield meats the dash. I dropped a ring next to the windshield and can see a panel with foam padding going under the dash where the vin number is but before I start trying to take things apart I may just be able to get at it another way. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Message: I have a few questions for you Dakula. Why did you go with a non-EGR M1 on your '93? How are you bypassing the EGR?
Are you running a 318 PCM or 360 PCM? That's a decent sized cam for a 318, not huge, but decent. A 360 PCM for a '93 Ram might help the whole setup run better.
What gears are you running? 3.55, 3.92, etc.
Your power range is going to be in the higher rpm's with that cam to begin with. You want to run steer gears to take advantage of it.
If you are running stock injectors - ditch them. Get yourself a set of the FMS (Ford Motorsport) 19lb injectors. That will work much better for you.
Running a decent cam and all, I would definitely try to get yourself a set of 1.6 roller rockers. The stock rockers are not designed to run higher rpm's. Roller rockers will give you greater stability in your valvetrain. And if you want to take advantage of that revving cam, I'd get some roller rockers with guideplates. I like overkill.
An MSD box would be helpful but it wouldn't be first on my list right now for your setup.
The headers would be a good choice. While your manifolds flow better than later years, the Thorley's will still work better. And you get a much better y-pipe with them.
Throttle body upgrade. You definitely want that. You can support a 52mm throttle body with your setup.
As for our opinion on turtles? We don't use them, we don't install them on customer trucks.
Let me know if I can help you out with any of this!

Message: Thanks for you speedy response. I was hoping to get your help.
As for the M1 with no EGR. A friend was using it on his 95 and had very good success with it. I bought it for a great price and we have a 95-96 model FAST managment system we were going to install that would allow tweeking around the missing EGR. Still have it but I want to get the 02 sensor upgrade.
Gears are 3.55 but its due for service so i'm probably going to go with 3.92 soon. What is steer gears?
For the record, I have had my truck 10 years and not once have I brought it to the track.
I see you recommend FoMoCo #19 injectors. Is this the largest you recommend? I have seen other 93 models an the injectors are gray, why are mine yellow?
What rockers do you all use and how much does this mod help?
Bill, thanks for your help
looking forward to faster days

Message: Steer gears are what happen when you try to type "steeper" before you've had enough coffee, lol. 3.92 is good. You might think about 4.10's.
Yellow injectors? You've got me there. 19 isn't the biggest size we recommend but it would be more than sufficient for your setup. You could got with 21 or 24 but you would likely run rich at idle/low rpms. On the other hand if you hook the FAST up, it wouldn't be a problem because you could tune that extra fuel out.
Our favorite rockers are the Comp Cams. Rockers will gain you power by reducing friction. They are stronger than stock rockers and keep your valvetrain more stable. It sounds like your truck should be pretty quick when it's tuned in.

Message: b1, Let me throw this at ya.
I had my transmission rebuilt about 70k miles ago. I had the TCI master racing overhaul and shift kit installed, along with the billet solinoid, convertor, etc.
When we reinstalled the tranny, I had to adjust the TV cable (located on Throttle body)considerably to prevent my tranny from shifting out too soon and failing to kickdown at any speed. To be honest with you it's pulled back as far as possible. But worked great.
Well, I was getting a soft 1-2 shift and eventually had to manually shift 1-2. So we pulled her out again. Of course the 2nd gear band was glazed, we also saw some wear on the piston located in the clutch pack assym. so we replaced that, clutches and plates were brand new, and after 70k miles the way I drive, they should at least been a little blue. TCI decent stuff. When we reinstalled the valve body we smashed the wires that go to the OD solinoids. 45 bucks later.
Anyway, now Im having problem with it shifting out to soon and I am maxed on my tv cable, so I have been running manually. What would you recommend and if your not sure can you ask around. Because, we don't know. Pressure should be good with new seals and all.
Oh yeh replace tv cable and had same problem. Tranny is a 518 with lock
What oils and filters are people using out there?

Message: I just bought a 96 dakota V8 with 45,765 miles on it. I want to mod it for the street - nice sound, a little cam rumble, dual exhaust - and I want it to breath as best it can. I'm also considering higher rearend gears for better mileage. Since it has EFI whats the prioity of things I could do?

Message: For starters, if you want a hotter cam, you might want to reconsider the higher rear end gears. Hotter cams work best with lower gearing.
