 Subject: Best muffler for my 4.7 dak

I have a 2001 reg cab 2wd dakota with the 4.7L. Right now i have a true dual setup with rear exits and no mufflers. The sound is really nice but i am looking for something different. I am wondering what the best muffler is for a deep and loud sound. I plan on dumping my exhaust right behind the muffler if that helps. Any info or sound clips would be great. thanks guys

which series flowmaster is the loudest? also, what difference will a single or dual chamber make?

30 or 40 series are the loudest. The more chambers, the mellower the sound.

I have (one) 2-chamber Flowmaster on the exhaust. I was dumping it right out the back of the muffler, pointed slightly down. Eventually, I put pipe out the back because I was getting headaches - it was that loud and deep. I was setting off car alarms whenever I drove by, and the resonance was loudest and deepest at low rpm. It was fun, but road trips weren't that great because you couldn't hear the radio or the other person without yelling.

i have a 2 chamber flowmaster with dual out behind the wheels and i love the sound and i have had the straight pipe set up with no muffler and you cant beat the flowmaster sound

Thanks for the help guys. I got my setup installed this morning and couldn't be happier. I got a single in, dual out 40 series delta flow, flowmaster with turndowns. It is just as loud now as it was with true duals w/ no mufflers. Again thanks guys.
