i raced a r/t tonite and it is not stock. i drive a lightly modded 4.7,and i'm glad to say it wasn't a pretty site. i had to have been 3 or 4 trucks ahead of him. this guy in a white fixed up 93 or 94 corvette saw us racing. i made the turn around at the end of the strip that everybody cruises down and the corvette comes on the side of me quick. i was like he is gonna beat my ass, especially from that slow of a roll. i rolled into it so i wouldn't spin and he just punched it. by the time my foot was on the floor i was a truck ahead. i shifted at 5200 and maintained a truck the whole time. afterwards we pulled over and he said he had full exhaust and hypertech programmer. i was so hyped up after that.
to all, 4.7s will continue to kick r/ts ass.

That does it - anyone want my super slow R/T regular cab - I guess I need a 4.7. I know I wont get much for my stupid R/T cuz no one wants a slow truck - I (thought) it was quick and was good on corners and sweet looking.

1 low milage R/T for sale - oh hell Ill just pay you to haul it off with your very powerful 4.7 super truck.
If any local (Springfield MO) 4.7 daks want to run before my truck is hauled off that would be fun just to see how slow my R/T is against a real truck.

that's right super slow r/ts. 70 more cubic inches and about 20 more hp is nuthin to brag about when you ran just the same through the quarter stock as a 4.7l the only advantage you have is the industry makes more aftermarket parts.

Well if anyone local wants to run, 4.7 or otherwise - Dodge, Chevy, Ford or rice my super slow R/T will show up if I can get the wimp 360 to start up.

The mighty advantage of the 4.7 liter engine isn't really the engine at all it's trans. First you can't get a manual in an R/T which is bull in my opinion and the automatic in the 4.7 liter has better gears. A 4.7 liter has a 3.09 first gear where a 5.9 has only a 2.76. the 4.7 liter also is a five speed automatic compared to the 5.9 four speeds. (4.7 are usually listed as four speed auto's but they actually have two diferent second gear ratios) The 4.7 liter is a well designed engine but i'll still race anyone with my 5.9 liter and walk all over them. At least thats what i'll say for now. Oh and i have also betten a corvette or two and even have one of the races on tape when i was at the drag strip, even after my brother in-law cut a horibble light.

I'm sorry all the R/T guys sitting here crying about how slow their trucks are, and how fast a 4.7 is a pussy thing to do.First off I'm a pround R/T owner and never put down my truck.If 4.7's are so fast how come I've never lost to one at the drag strip???14.45 RC R/T,Intake and Autolites.

are you sure it was a 93-4,because they have 300hp stockand are a couple of hundred pounds lighter if it was a older 80's model i could see it.the 4.7 is a good engine,but come on the lt1s w/autos run high 13's-low 14's stock.did he spin?could he drive?i'm not trying to be the typical chevy a$$ on here,i don't think "CHEVYS CAN NEVER LOSE"or anything,i'm just asking,because most vette guys can't drive to save their life

I have to agree with Bowtie. Alot of corvette owners dont do the car any justice. Its not hard to take a vette off the line with an R/T(I know, I have done it) but alot of those guys bought the cars just becouse they can aford it and they cant drive them. On any given friday night at the track there are usually a few vettes there. You can tell who can and cant drive. Most of them spin the tires up to red line after only moving 10 feet and thy shif in to second and drag the engine down and are lucky to get 15s out of them. The guys that can drive ease the car out and usually run well into the 13s.
