Subject: 5.9L starting issue... IP: Logged
Message: I've got a '00 Quad Cab, 5.9L, 46RE with 17000 miles on it. It just developed a condition that leaves me to believe that there is an injector(s) leaking down. When I first start it in the morning, if it is cold (below 45), it usually starts right up. If it is warmer it takes about a 12-15 second starter turn to crank up. I can then restart it easily within 5 minutes or so. Any time it sits for more that say 15-20 minutes it takes a long time to start again. This leads me to believe that there is a flooding condition going on since when it is cold the throttle body is letting a lot of air in, but when it doesn't have a lot of time to sit it starts right up. It is under warranty, so I will probably take it to the dealer and see what they say. It sure sounds to me like an injector or two is bleeding into the ports after the truck has been turned off. Anybody got any thoughts or experiencing similar behavior?

Message: Got it back from the dealer today. It was the fuel pump. You know that was a pain, it's in the fuel tank! Oh well, that's what warranties are for.
