 Subject: Checking Engine codes ON/OFF method

I have a 1997 5.2. every thing I have read says i should be able to read engine codes by doing the ON/OFF key sequence. Everytime i have tried i have gotten nothing. Any ideas? Thanks. Patrick...

Ignition on/ ignition off , ignition on/igniton off , igniton on and then count the flashes on the check engine lights . This should work if not check to see if your check engine light is even working .

All the literature i have read says it also works on the 97 but only limited 98 and 99. Might this indicate that the computer has been replaced? Thanks, Patrick...
