Subject: Exhaust Cutout (s)??? IP: Logged
Message: I am just about to put a brand new set of Mopar Performance headers on my 99 5.2 5-spd and REALLY want to put a cutout in for nothing more then the sweet sound. Even if i lose 20Hp that would be fine with me because all I will ever uncapp it for is the sound. BUT....do i put 1 cutout in between the Y-pipe and the cat OR is it possible to have a cutout for each header like the old muscle cars before the Y-pipe comes together.
Any pictures or Info on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Message: Check out the infamous "Did you think a 318 could sound like crap" thread around page three, she has cut outs, of course it's a pro street 15 second truck, so why wouldn't she have cutouts?

Message: My buddy has a R/T with electric cut outs. They are located just after both headers. Man they make the truck sound soooooooooo badass. He uses them in the staging lanes to scare ricers then closes them up and lays down a 13 1/4 mile. As long as you close them before stepping on the gas you will have very little power lose. Do some good research on the different types but I would recommend a very strong sealing cutout and an electric opening system of some type. Sounds like a cool project!
