 Subject: BG Flash and Death Flash

I have 2 PCM's. Both are for a 2000 4.7 5 speed. One with a death flash and one without. If I send the DEATH FLASHED unit to BG will their reprogramming overwrite the deadly death flash?
Does anyone know what all mods they do? Is it just timing and fuel?

I have a 5.2 and I've thought about modifying OBC settings and such, but don't yet have the cash for an OBC programmer. What does this "Death Flash" do and how much would it run me?

I have to disagree with the death flash not affecting the 4.7! It killed my 01 afterwards and started making it ping with 87 octane gas! When I picked my truck up after the flash it felt like it had been castrated! I even took it back and had them flash it again with the same result and couldn't talk them into flashing it back to the way it was.
OPINIONS ARE LIKE....WELL, YOU KNOW THE REST!!

YES and here is mine.....
If your 4.7 started pinging after a flash then the timing must have been advanced (good thing)
But again the so call death flash is for the V6 5.2 5.9 engines it is the dealers cure to keep from fixing the belly pan gasket.....Do you have a belly pan Mr. 4.7

I have to agree with Quadman. Dealers have a TSB to cure rough idle/stalling on the 4.7's and it is the death flash. It retards the timing and also alters the fuel map. It was done to mine and I took it back and the can not undo it or reinstall any previous programs. That sucks!!!
Anyone out there had the death flash done on a 4.7 then sent their PCM to BG, Mike Leach or Kenne Bell for a reprogram? What's the results?

Is the BG flash a complete package or just certain parameters that are changed. I.E. do they alter the warm up open loop to stop stumbling during warm up?

Hey , GUYs When I had My pcm reflashed I had a friend do it and then we took the truck out and drove the s**t out of it . He said that if we didn't it would not run very well. The reason for this he said was because it has an adaptive memory and needs to be taught how you want it to behave. I have had the pcm reflashed two times and we did the same thing both times and my truck runs as well as it ever had before.
I dont know if this really works but my truck seems to have responded very well both times
The first reflash was for rough idle
The second reflash was for a K&N fipk and 17 inch wheels and tires . I really noticed a big improvement with tranny shifts and mileage.

ch4ngv- dealer flash and the friend has been working on these dodges for 22 years. He said that he learned about driving them hard after a reflash at DC's driveability trouble shooting school here in Irving TX.
