Message: I have a 93 Dakota LE 4x4 with a 318. I have a catback system after the cat. convert with no muffler. I seem to be getting about 10.5 - 11.5 MPG. Is this normal? What do you guys get?

Message: I have a '95 CC 4x4 318 Magnum and get about 16-18mpg in the city and about 20-23mpg highway. I did some cheap upgrades that are easy to do. Before I upgraded I did get less mileage.
1) Bosch Platinum 4 Plugs
2) Orange Coolant
3) 180deg Thermostat
4) Redline (read below)
5) 10w-30 AMSOIL Full Synthetic
6) K&N Cotton Air Filter
That's about it that made any difference in fuel mileage. I got the most gain out of the cotton air-filter. I also have a Tornado Air on my truck, but all I gained from it was mad torque in all ranges of the tach.
As for the Redline, it is a fuel-system cleaner that I've only found at Pep-Boys. The stuff has no detergents like a standard cleaner (STP for instance), so it doesn't damage your system while cleaning it out. The stuff sells in a bottle about the size of any other fuel-additive bottle, and treats 100gal of fuel, with 10gal increments marked on the bottle. It is so mild that you can add it with every tank of gas, but I only do it once a month on mine. And when I first used it after I found out about it, the truck drove like new! I gained a HUGE amount of power back and my mileage went way up, even with a few of the above mods on already. I highly recomend the stuff, but it does cost about $6-$8.
