Cool. I may be ordering one also. '04 CC 4.7L 4x4 - 26H Convenience, Deep Molten Red, auto, tow, 3.92, Infinities.

Out of curiosity fst4dr, did you get a decent deal from your local dealership on it? WOuld you have gotten a better deal if you'd ordered off the lot?

That's cool, but you should have waited for the new models to come out next year. I always feel like my vehicle is so obsolete after the new model come out. That's why I am trading in my 2001 R/T dakota next year. But hey it's always cool to get a new truck.

I bought a 2004 club cab, 4x4 in sept. a 4.7 , auto tranny , tow pack. and heavy duty cooling. etc. 3.55 anti slip rear end -- it gets about 14mpg driving daily and almost 18mpg on hiway at 70mph-- -- was priced at 28,800$ and they gave me 8500$ for my 98 with 78000 imiles -- - crappy interest[ 5.5%] and only 1k$ rebate -- 2 weeks later 1.9% interest and 3k$ rebates -- now o% interest etc. the DC dealers are mostly a pack of thieves IMO- [ my 98 had 18K$ in warrenty repairs in the 75K mile warrenty and needed to have the tranny rebuilt and the front end rebuilt again{ already on the 4th set of ball joints]-- whethey sold me the truck dec. of 98 with 10K miles on it , they smiled and said " nothing wrong with this truck ] 18K$ in repairs later under extended warrenty -- endless problems - I traded it and told them" nothing wrong with this truck"- if the toyota delaers hadn't been jerks - I would have bought a Tundra for my work needs -- with that said this 4.7 and the electronic 5 spd auto are a hell of alot more truck then the 3.9 and 4 speed auto ever was -- bigl22

I ordered it because the chances of finding a V8, 5spd, 4x4 were pretty slim. I wanted to get it just the way I wanted as well.

I got the employee discount because my Sister-in-law works for chrysler. After the discount, and rebates, I payed $21.5K for it. not too bad considering the window sticker was over 28K.

Sounds like a nice new Dak! However, PLEASE save yourself a lot of heart-break and order a grease-fitting kit for your Dak. The ball-joints are permanently sealed on any Dak '97 and older and when the grease runs out you get major repair bills. After you order and install your kit, all you've gotta' do is hook a grease-gun to it once a month and pump a few times (until the grease gently oozes out) and your bearings should last forever.

What grease fitting kit are you talking about ? You might be better off with parts that are designed to be greased. The only time you want to see grease oozing out would be for propellar shafts, the expandable joint in a drive shaft. More than a couple of pumps for ball joints and u-joints and that grease oozing out indicates that you have compromised the seals.

Actually, there is a tiny hole on the seal or metal joint that allows some to ooze out when full. However, if you pump like a madman and that pin-hole can't release the grease fast enough, you could easily bust a seal. Hasn't happened to me in 12yrs though.

Uh, SRT8 was only a racing model, or so I thought. What happens when it snows and you don't have 4WD? I've gotta' have 4WD on my truck or it just isn't a truck. I mean heck, I've taken Boxter S's in my '95 4x4 CC, so why would I need anything faster?

Also, if Dodge doesn't start putting grease-fittings back on the suspension and steering-linkage, all that SRT8 will do is have a tire fall off at a higher speed, because you KNOW you'll let it eat if you buy it!

If you havn't taken delivery yet, it's not to late. Get out of the deal and go get you a 04 F150, they are sweet, or a Nissan Titan, also a Silverado SS can tow pretty good and has all wheel drive. These trucks may cost more but they are darn worth the price difference, remember, you get what you pay for. The Dodges are cheaper because they offer less across the board.

Don`t forget the extended warranty. It costs less if you buy when your truck is brand new. I think the "added care" option on the service contractors policy has the best cost/benefit of the 3 options available. Don`t let a short budget deviate you from this necessity. Just include the cost (around $1000 or so) on the truck payments. You won`t regret it. HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!!!!
