Subject: 4.7L Cat-Back without a muffler IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone ever split right past the cat without using a muffler. A guy at an exhaust shop suggested this, but I am hesitant because I dont want it to be too loud. Anyone here have this or heard this. Thanks in advance for the help.

Message: It'll be very loud. Not as loud though if you route it out the back of the truck.

Message: Yeah, that's what I meant to say. It would be straight out the back.

Message: I had my muffler fall off ( s****Y weld job by the muffler shop) when I was at the river. I JUST got there. It was loud as heck and also when it broke off I was drivign down a dirt road so the muffler broke on the front part so it stabbed the ground. made a huge racket. anyway I ended up having to drive it home without a muffler ( I had taken the muffler and tailpipe off the truck so I could drive) its freakin LOUD. especially after 320 mile drive back. souonds liek a big block on steoroids but if youtry to start off and floor it when it shifts to 2nd it gives off this loud wet fart sound.

Message: I have a 97' Club Cab 5.2 5-speed 4x4, I have a custum single exhaust, cut off cat with a glass pack muffler on backwards, not as loud as a strait pipe, but louder than it would be if the muffler was on correctly, when I am on the gas under normal acceleration it is loud, really loud under full throttle.

Message: I ran around town with my exhaust cut after the y-pipe for a few days. Makes a weird "blehhhh" sound and you feel like you have no torque, but it felt really nice higher up. I remember my tries would just roast when switching gears when I did that. Don't know what glasspacks on a 4.7 sound like..

Message: I had a 2000 4.7 2wd, and it sounded awesome with it split into duals behind the cat, with no muffler. i later heard the same truck with a 5 speed with the same exhaust, and it sounded like schitt when he was slowing down, so if you have a 5speed try to hear one first you may not like it. It kinda sounds like it is backfiring really really REALLY loud.
