Subject: Advise for an '04 buyer?
IP: Logged

Message:
Look out, Mavis. An '04 Dak 4.7 CC 4x4 could be in my driveway by end of the weekend, my '97 5.2 going in as auction fodder.

Honest to gosh, never owned a new car before. Any advise? I'd like to switch out the stock tires (Wranglers?) for some BFG TA's, and replace the stock air filter with a K&N. Any other advise? Are the '04's a solid year (so far)?

I have an 01 dak 4.7 CC, so far its been strong for me. I have almost 2000 miles on it right now. I think from 03 and up they started using the 4.7ho intake mani on them. I get about 16 city and 21 highway as far as mpg goes. I guess the 4.7 responds well to a PCM flash (about $400, may b cheaper just have to shop), but i havent done this yet myself. Hope this helps.

Order it with a 5spd, they last longer. Don't buy off the lot. Get 3.92 gears. Get the LSD. When you order it the quality goes up I believe. You get the truck YOU want. Not one you settle for.

CThomp - I want an automatic, but I am quite sold on the 3.92's (we tow and also spend a lot of time driving in the Rockies) and the LSD. I have one or two picked out that have the gears and buckets, and not much else for tricks. One is fire engine red. :)

Thanks for the advise folks - Happy Holidays.
