Never mind the PWOL (People Without Lives) representatives here.
To launch, put your left foot on the brake and hold while you press on the accelerator. Hold truck right at the point the truck starts to creep. Then release brake and floor accelerator at the same time. Lots of tire smoke can result, but sometimes traction can hurt ya'. The engine will be in the meat of it's powerband right away. Hope that helps.

Sniper--
I find that with my open diff i have to "roll" into the throttle to get best traction. Otherwise my right tire smokes.

Message: sniper,
be careful, when you launch that thing!
Before launch, bring you tray tables and seats to an upright position. And watch out for those satellites in a near earth orbit.
Just Kidding, be cool, and try to perfect the technique Matt03Dak said in an earlier post.
Doesn't apply to me and my dak, it's got the 'real' 5 spd. Techniques a bit different.

BAH!! hehe
Sniper: If you're talkin on street tires, stalling it up and flooring it is gonna spin pretty badly probly. For street tires I find best bet is to stall it up like Matt03dak said, stall it up to about 1100, then when you let off the brake, step into the gas some. With some practice, you can feel the tires break loose, and you can feel when they're about to catch. After some practice, from those two feelings you'll eventually learn how to launch the truck as hard as you possibly can with minimal tire spin. I mean, you will be able to tell over time when the tires are about to break loose, and you'll roll into the throttle hard, but not QUITE hard enough to light 'em up.
Like I always say to the guys on the import forum I post on who talk about spinning all of 1st and 2nd as excuses for losing a race. If I stall it up and floor it, I can spin all of first and a good part of 2nd...but when I *LAUNCH*, you hear chirp...chirp.....chirp chirp VROOOOOOOM :P

Message: I was racing a Tubo Jetta one night and did it form like 3 stop lights in a row. I was surprised to kind of HANG with a lightweight and Turbocharged car with my 4X4 QC Dak 4.7 Auto.
I was getting him out of the hole until the last run I held my brake, brought it up to the stall and hit the gas when the light changed.
I SMOKED the living sh*t out of my tires and then had to let off and hit it again. Luckily he roasted his tires at the same time. He said he tried the last run with his "traction control" off.
I tell you, when these tires DO break lose, this 4.7 will wind right up and smoke the tires silly! You just have to get used to your truck I guess.
