Message: I went from 355 to 410. Great improvement.
I thought about going to 392 but felt the change was not significant enough to justify the hassle. I have a QC and with its extra weight, I think the 410s are perfect.
So far I think I've lost only 1/2 MPG but I really do keep my foot in it!!
I haven't gone down the 1/4...yet.

Message: Dakaty, can you just purchase 3.92's or 4.10's from any dodge dealership, or an offroad parts store? If you don't mind, about how much $$ do they run?

Message: I had mine installed at a good shop in Houston which uses "Motive Gears". Total cost was just over $450 parts, labor and all.
I had earlier got an estimate at the dealer for about $1100 (for 3.92s).

Message: A new ring and pinion for the 9.25 can be had for around $200 plus tax but the front 205mm or 8 inch or whatever it is can only be bought from Mopar from what I've heard and it's about $400 plus tax. This is for 2000 and later.

That was an excellent price for the gear change. I just replaced the gears in my 68 Mustang and it cost me $1,000.00

Message: I got prices from four different places before I had mine gears changed. Cheapest was $375 (real greasy auto trans shop) to $1100 (Dodge Dealer). The other two bids were $450 and $550. I went with Houston Drive Train because Klc (posts on this Board) had his done there with good results.
I already had LSD

may be slightly obvious . . .
If I want to change to 4.10s on the rear, I will
also have to change to 4.10s on the front, right ?
$700 per axle minimum, ouch

you will hear a delightful popping and grinding
sound. The sound of freshly squeezed teeth.
Its the same for tyres, always run 4 identical

Message: On later model Daks (98 and up, I think) the speedo is not effected when the rear gears are changed. On earlier models the gear chage will effect the speedo.

Message: Is that really true that you do not have to flash your computer to swap gears??? I have the 3.55's but would love the 3.92's. Problem is is that i have the kenne bell blower and they have flashed my computer already. Not able to have it flashed again, would delete kenne's flash. If this is true is it because of the speed sensor?? Is that where the computer gets it's speedo info from??? (2000, auto 4.7)

Message: Razor, that is correct. I had my 3.55s changed out with 4.10s and LSD and speedo was right on. I verified it with my GPS. My Dak is an 02 with a 4.7L. If you are considering a gear change don't stop short with 3.92s go ahead and get 4.10s, you'll love them.

Message: 4.10's.... hmmm. I really don't do a lot of highway. I'm looking for better track jperformance but until i can get a shift kit to stop my tranny from burning up on my 2-3rd shift i won't be going back. What type of revs are we looking at at around 100km(60-65mph)? I have the 2000 4.7 auto with OD.

Message: I think the 4.10 argument holds up, IF you have an auto!
For the nv3500, even with the 3.55's, it seems about the same, if not shorter 1st, than a 4speed auto with 3.92's.
NOw, if someone that isn't lazy like me, they could multiply and get the ratios, I know it's been done and posted.
