I have a 2000 durango with a 5.9 and a 2001 Dakota with a 4.7 and I'm toying with the idea of an engine swap before I get rid of the durango. Has any one tried this one. if it can be done with out spending a bunch of money or time I would consider it. any input would be great

Come on guys I need help here, after driving my wife’s Durango while my Dakota was in the shop I really want to put the 5.9 in my truck.
I have been looking under both hoods and see some minor differences and I’m not sure if it is the difference of model years or just the difference in engines.
The fuse/relay box is different but the PCM setup appears to be the same.
I’m looking at a complete engine & transmission swap, since both vehicles came with either engine I feel confident that they will bolt right in?
My major concern is the wiring harnesses I was hoping for a basic plug and play type setup but unfortunately it does not look that easy. I was wondering if any one had tried this swap, if so a list of parts needed would be greatly appreciated!

completely not worth the time, your best bet is to take hers, it would be complete stupidity to do and engine swap
