Subject: Oil Pressure Gone..sucks IP: Logged
Message: ok hears the deal...when im out wheelin'...its all fine and dandy untill i go down hills, steep hills,, ..while going down the hill my check guagess will come on and my oil pressure will drop down to zero...whatever it is it need to be fixed so what should i do to remedy this problem.

Message: You might want to try this question on the off road board also. Maybe someone makes a swinging oil pick up that would follow the oil towards the front of the sump ? Or you could rig up an oil accumulator, holds extra oil and releases it when pressure drops. As an added bonus, the accumulator protects against dry starts too.

Message: CHANGE THE OIL PUMP NOW! Trust me, I just paid $1600 for a new 318 because I was dumb and didn't just stop driving when the oil pressure dropped. There are hundreds of people with this same problem. It's caused by sludge buildup and clogs the pickup screen for the oil filter. Take it from me and save yourself some money.

As for the swinging pickup, those are mostly for circle track racers and mostly for small block cheby's. Try a high volume Melling or even the FM part.
