Help, When my94 5.2 starts up first thing it starts great, go any where and (most times but not all the time) it won't start it cranks over good, acts like it is firing, but if you pour gas down the throttle body it won't fire. had the fuel pump replaced, (it was doing this before I did that) . All you have to do is wait anywhere from 1/2 to 2 hours and it starts as if there was no problem first crank, but until you get that sitting time you can crank all you want all you will do is wear down the battery. I have replaced the SMEC and it did the same thing with in 1 trip.
any help or ideas is gratly appreciated.

The next time it won't start, check to see if you have spark. If not, check the connector at the bottom of the coil. You may have to spread the pins a little to make a better connection. My '95 did exactly the same thing (would start, wouldn't start with no discernible antecedent cause). Check for other problems too, of course. Good luck.

Ive got a 94 5.2 with same prob.
mine has not been consistant enough to diagnose.
if I let stop and wait a second then crank it seems to work. Ive rplaced cap rotor wires plugs coil.

my 92 5.2 has done this before but quit all together. had to replace one of the two relays on the fire wall. I dont remember what they controlled since its been 3 years ago.
