Hey, i'm lookin for a dakota. i know i want a v8, but the question is, would i be better off finding a used 5.2 or a new(er) 4.7? i'm somehting of a backyard mechanic so i lean towards the simplicity of the 5.2, but does one have any distinct advantage over the other? itll mostly be a driver, occasionally be subjected to towing a mustang over the sierras...
also...and i realize this is something of a subjective thing - but i'm something of a muscle car guy and i just wondered if you preferred the exhaust note of one over the other, especially with a new exhaust setup on it?

the aftermarket support is a lot better at this point for the 5.2l because almost all the same parts bolt up to the 5.9l but maybe in teh next couple of years that will change
