Subject: squeel IP: Logged
Message: i have a 99 daxota 4x4. v8 obviously, and i was wondering something. when i rev to high something in the front end squeels (standard tranny). some people think its one of the wheels for the belt. its kind of a squeely echo sound and gets louder as the rpms go up.. any advice

Message: If the squeel is coming from the engine compartment, Usually it means that your belt is loose, or could be worn out. Check the condition of your belt. If you could give some more info on when it happens would be good. IE:squeels at high RPM in Park, or in gear.

Message: Probably the idler pulley or the water pump. Remove the serpentine belt and start the engine to see if the squeel is still there. If it's gone then it's a matter of narrowing the problem down. Don't run the engine too long without the belt on there.... it really needs that water pump to turn to keep things cool.
