Hey Guys& Gals!
First post here. I have found a lot of usefull info about my truck. Nice to see knowledge brought together in one place.
I bought a '03 Dakota Quad cab 4X4 with the 4.7L V8. This is the first oil change since I bought it new and I decided to do my own oil change on it and overall, it is very simple procedure except for the oil filter. There is that access hole that you remove to expose where the filter is. I figured that this was a neat idea until I removed the filter. Oil everywhere. all down my arm, all over the inside of the plastic panel where the acess hole was. Can anybody give some usefull advice on how to keep the filter change as neat as possible?

Thanks!

yea U cut off a 2 liter pop jug and slide it up over the filter when U screw it off and that will catch the oil

Or you can get at it through the wheel well if you pull the left tire - I rotate my tires while I'm at it.

Thanks guys for the info.... I will keep this in mind for when I hit 10000 km and it is time to change the oil again.
