Message: Does anyone know if the front driveshaft should still spin in 2wd. I can't find any mechnism to disingage it in my 97 4x4

Message: Yes it does but it's just not being fed any power from the T-Case.

Message: Just to add to spiller's comment. The entire axle inner shaft and drive shaft still spin. If you had unlockable hubs (in 97 they are permanetly locked) then you could stop them from turning. Costs a little mpg, but saves you from getting muddy or freezing when you need to go into 4x4 (shift on the fly)!
