Message: In past years the 5.9/5 speed combo was available in the 2500 Rams. They are pretty scarce, though, so finding used parts at a reasonable price might be a chore.

Message: I can get a tranny from a 2500 Ram. Would it work in the Dakota? It's out of a 95 Ram and I believe it is the NV-4500. Will that work in a 92 Dakota with 5.9L swap???
Thanks
Dan

Message: you wont want the nv4500. It wont physically fit the tranny tunnel of the dakota. you would have to do some custom fabing to make it work. You also wont be too happy with the way it performs. It is meant for towing which means it has a granny first gear. You will probably want to look into getting a nv3500 tranny that is in good shape or better yet look into keislerauto.com's tranny swap kits.
