There is someone near me that is selling a 5.9L motor from a full-size ram. It's supposed to make 10 more horse than an R/T and more torque as well, if I'm not mistaken. How hard would it be to get in my truck? I know Rams come with either 318s or 360s, so do Daks. How much more weight would it add? Thanks in advance for your help guys.

The engine will fit just like a 5.2L. It's the same engine essentially. I am swapping in a 5.9L into my 92 Dakota. It is a very easy swap so you shouldn't have any problems. You will need a 5.9L PCM and a Dakota oil pan.

Hope this helps
Dan

Ram 5.9's have about 5 less hp and I'm not sure how much less torque. The only thing different really is the heads. There shouldn't much difference in weight.

and really, this drop in HP/torque could be a result of the differences in exhaust or intake systems between the two models. Engines should be identical, as they are all stamped out from the factory.

cheers

Thanks for your help guys, I'll have to pass for now on it, due to job situation, but I WILL have a 5.9 someday.
