Hey everyone, I just traded in my 01 v6 cc dak for a new 04 v8 cc. Wow what a diffrence!! the 4.7 is an awsome engine. I look forward to surfing the V8 forum now instead of the 6. What would be some good mods to start off with ( I know this has been coverd, but i just want to make sure since new products are slways coming out). Thanks for any help

Congrats on the new ride. I too traded a V-6 for a 4.7L V-8. Only wish I had done it before I spent a lot of money trying to make my V-6 faster...it didn't work by the way.
The bottom line is unless your willing to spend a lot of money your not going to make a noticable difference in performance.
The truck is already faster than most trucks out there, so why bother.

If it were me I'd do Cold air intake kit, headers, high flow cat. and a nice cat-back system so everyone knows you got a v-8. If ya have enough money I would get a larger throtle body and/or performance cams/intake. Just my opinion.

can you recommend some good headers, high flow cat and cold air. money isnt really that big of a concern, I would rather get quality parts over a period of time rather than ok ones all at the same time

What dealer did you get you're Dakota from?
I bought an '03 in January, from Parks Motors in Wichita, good bunch there.
Keep us posted on how the mods go.

Shorty headers aren't going to do much for your 4.7, the stock exhaust manofolds flow almost as well. Chris Lambert lists some good mods, the HO cams and a decent computer upgrade will make a big difference on this motor. Chris, what kind of tranny upgrade are you suggesting ?

I got my Dak from Briggs Dodge in Topeka. Im thinking of a Z tude FB 70mm tb and gibson headers to start.
