The transfer case is super simple.(two hex drain plugs,3/8 or 10mm?) The rear diff very easy. Front diff I haven`t done yet. It looks to be a bit of a pain. I think you have to remove the splash guard to make it easier and the bolts are tougher to get at. Plus there`s the vent tube to deal with. Not that bad I know but I`m lazy.
Uh oh the "do a search police" are coming...gotta go, good luck!

Message: You can do your own if you have the right tools. The transfer case is easy. The rear dif is easy. Use Amsoil and you won't need a dif additive, plus it's just damn good stuff. The front is a different story. You'll need a suction gun to put the oil back in. It's a tight squeeze removing and installing the cover and especially cleaning the mating surface of the housing. I found it easier to reach the top bolts through the hole provided for removing the oil filter and using a long extension on the ratchet. Be careful reinstalling the cover. I found screwing a couple of studs in as guide pins helped a lot and kept me from messing up the gasket material. I couldn't imagine having it leak and having to start all over again. In the end I thought it was worth the trouble doing it myself because I know it was done right and I got the chance to see if there were any fillings in either case. There weren't.

Message: I just replaced the diff fluid in my '01 5.9. Refilling the front diff is easier than the rear. The vent tube terminates in a breather valve, loacted next to the battery. Just pull out the valve and fill through the vent tube. Much easier than doing it from below.

Message:
Helpful Differential Recommendations:
-- Flush (drain) as much of the old fluid out.
-- Differential fluid capacity depends on ring gear and axle housing size.
-- Do not over/under fill differential. This could mean a capacity difference of a quart or more and may cause overheating problems. (See the owner’s manual for proper fill level)
AMSOIL gear oils are formulated with friction modifiers for limited slip differential applications. There is no need to add limited slip or additional additives.
-- After changing the differential fluid, drive the vehicle in 7 or 8 figure eight turns, so the new lubricant can work its way into the axle assembly.

For those interested & FYI - Gear Lube Information:
High quality gear oils must lubricate, cool and protect geared systems. They must also carry damaging wear debris away from contact zones and muffle the sound of gear operation. Commonly used in differential gears and standard transmission applications in commercial and passenger vehicles, as well as a variety of industrial machinery, gear oils must offer extreme temperature and pressure protection in order to prevent wear, pitting, spalling, scoring, scuffing and other types of damage that result in equipment failure and downtime. Protection against oxidation, thermal degradation, rust, copper corrosion and foaming is also important.
