At first I thought it was a Lightening but when I looked alittle closer it was a BOSS 5.4 F150. Do those turn serious numbers? Or do they just have a fancy little BOSS emblem?

Umm. i think that the boss 5.4 F150 is basically a fancy overpriced F150. The dealer ship where i got my truck just got 10 of them in they are a nice lookin truck but i dont think i would pay 35,800 for one since they dont have anything in them except a regular 5.4 i dont think they turn much numbers if any. If i was gonna pay that much i would go ahead and find the extra money someplace to go ahead and get the lightening. plus all of them are yellow well at least they are here but i wouldn't want everybody drivin the exact same truck same color and everything around.

Ya the one i saw was yellow too. 35800?? give or take (probably give) a couple thousand around here and you'll have your self a lightening. Thats weird they would charge that much for that. Must be one of those cases where its all in the name.

The Boss Truck will turn over mid to low 15's. Don't get me wrong it is a sharp looking truck but there is an Izzue that will turn over low 13's in my town.

I would have thought ford would have spent more time souping up the Ranger if any truck... They have that Ranger Thunder thing thats supposed to pull in high 14's but I heard about it once before they released it (around jan) and never heard a word about it again.

Yeah, the boss 5.4 is just as expensive as the Lightning, wich is a fast truck. The Rousch trucks are usually just tape and paint, BUT.... There are a few 425 horse 5 spd's out there that run high 13's and wear performance rated tires good for 160. If I paid 35k for a God damned pick up, it better be turning 12s and perform tasks previously relegated to my wife....

You guys didn't look at the sticker very well on that BOSS 5.4L F150. It's supercharged to the tune of 360HP. I test drove a yellow one at Jacky Jones Ford in Cleveland, GA. It hauls arse pretty darn well.

I'm pretty sure all the BOSS is,,is just a 5.4 - no performance mods to the motor. Just suspension, and maybe a hood.

Not with 8-10 of them sitting on the lot. I didn't see anything about different stages either, and the GM didn't mention any. All it stated was the package name and what the options were (including S/C).

dont mistake the 5.4 for a high performance engine its used only cause there is no more 302's and the next size v8 is the 4.6. they use the 5.4 just for a little extra more pulling power than the 4.6. my friend has got a 2000 f-250 super duty the horespower is the same as my 99 5.2 he just has got a little more touque. and trailer weight only cause of his suspension. his truck looks mean but the numbers dont lie.

BOSS f-150 is not superchargered at all they have custom yellow and black paint and a cowl hood and 20 inch chrome rims. Oh ya almost forgot a custom cat-back but unless the dealer put on a supercharger its not going to be their. One BIG question for all the ford people out their with these fast Lightnings and stangs HOW MANY MILES you have on them because I run my truck rain or shine and it still likes to play after 80k.

At one point the Harley F150 was not supercharged, I think just this year that added the superccharger with 360hp. I don't see why the Boss wouldn't sport a Supercharger either.

Blah blah blah...OK, here it is again. The Boss 5.4L's that I saw on the lot at Jacky Jones Ford in Cleveland, GA (a full line SVT and Rousch dealer) were all S/C'ed to the tune of 360 HP. And no, I'm not talking about one or two trucks, but between 8-10 trucks, plus the Lightnings they had sitting there (about another dozen). I personally looked under the hood of all of them and drove one of them back in September. They are pretty much like the Lightning except for the crazy color schemes and interior/exterior mods. They also had some kind of different wheel package (didn't ask and didn't really pay much attention to them). According to their (Jacky Jones Ford) General Manager, he could not order them without the S/C, meaning that it was not an option. So that leads me to believe that the non S/C opes just have a dress up kit and not the full Boss treatment. That is my opinion, based on the facts which I have observed.

According to the people who make the Boss 5.4 f-150s they don't put on a supercharger. If the trucks had 20" wheels they were at least stage 3 trucks, but even the stage 4 doesn't add a charger. The only thing on the wole truck to improve 1/4 mile times is a catback exhaust, all the other stuff they add onlt adds more weight and hurts times. I bet the reason for the high price is that they are completely repainting a factory truck. You can't get those colors form ford so they have to buy a ford painted something else and then repaint the truck to the new yellow or orange. If they could just get the starter truck in the correct color then they could probably knock at least $3000 off their price, or add the blower for the same price. I do like the orange though, same as that new kenne-bell Ram.

After looking at that "lawest" website, that's what I figured.
Ford should kick somebody's a$$ all over for even THINKING of using the BOSS name and especially using it when the truck isn't even going to be doing any serious a$$ kicking of it's own over a stock 5.4 and the other truck makes!!!

Ford hasn't used the Boss name for so long they've probably lost rights to it. It doesn't take very long to lose a name. Remember a few years back (maybe 2000) Pontiac made a "GTX" version of the Grand Prix, Plymouth was still using the GTX trim in 1974. I think this is one reason they are putting the GTO name back on a car, as they are probably about due to lose it!

I think someone is dating the General Manager in Clevland>> The Boss is a stock eng. with No and I mean No supercharger...Just the misuse of the name Boss. well the boss isnt supercharged as i know of. the ones here in my part of tn arent anyway. and the harley trucks have 340hp as the lightning has 380. the lightning and the harley have different internals leading to the lesser amount of hp in the harley. for the buck the lightning is better and alot faster. the boss trucks look good but im my oppinion not worth the money. they also come in a orange color with the black accents just like the yellow one has.

The Boss is a plain old 5.4L V8. Nothing special. The reason they are so expensive is because they are a limited production vehicle. They look nice, but I would rather spend less on the lightning. As far as the HP differences between the Lightning and HD Supercrew, part of the reason is because of the weight difference between the two. However the HD's will get up and move. Fordguy is right, the HD's are running 340 HP and the Lightning is running 380. However the concept '05 lightning has it running in the vicinity of 500 HP. Don't know if it will actually see that much. Wait and see.

19. How many HP is the truck..? (can’t find it written in the manual anywhere)
Answer: 260 plus 5 with the catback dual exhaust system.
