Does anyone here know anything about the Boss? One says it's aftermarket, and one says Ford builds it. Is it a Lightning or not? Does it have a supercharger? I have read about a hundred different answers.

The Boss is aftermaket done by L.A. West. It is basically a body kit with minor performance upgrades. It does not come with a supercharger, though their are a few aftermakets available.

The BOSS does NOT come supercharged, however, the eaton supercharger will fit a standard 5.4 with very minor modifications. I saw an eaton supercharger on ebay last week for $200.00, thats a cheap way to make your own wannbe lightning!!!!

Just so you guys know, my brother just bought the base line boss f-150 and it cam with a supercharger. All the boss' i have seen come with a supercharger, at mkhaik ford in houston, and access ford in corpus christi. i asked, and the dealer told me that they are all supercharged when they come from the factory, and they do come from the factory, bc i was there when my bro's truck was unloaded from the trailer, along with a bunch of regular f-150's and tauruses.

I can tell you that they all don't come supercharged from the factory. I just bought one yesterday, and it is not and was not an option, however it is still pretty quick.

say whacha want, i have purchased a boss in austin and it did not come with a supercharger. there are only 499 of theses trucks ever made and they are ready for any aftermarket mods. the hood scoop can be converted into a cowl induction and you slap a supercharger, or a turbo in one and good luck keepin up with it. it governs at 99 mph stock, yet you can buy a tuner and take that off add a super chip, supercharger/turbos, and whatever makes you happy, than you have something to brag about.

In the last 6 months I have looked at 4 different Bosses in Arkansas (one at Trotter Ford, one at Landers Ford, one at North Point Ford and another dealership in Conway Arkansas) and all 4 had the Harely Davidson SC 345HP engine. Are you sure about that 499 production run? They only give out vehicles with that small of a production run to BIG dealerships. None of the dealerships in Arkansas even rate in the top 100. For me to have seen 4 at 4 different dealerships in Arkansas would suggest that there are much more than 499 of them out there. Maybe these dealerships made these trucks from kits? I don't know. If so, you should be able to get a plain-jane F150 and have a dealer installed SC put on.

that if you have any doubts about the preformance and
havent driven one, try it

Actually, dodge did the same thing ford did with the boss. The "Rumble Bee"( Taken from Superbee, the official white trash Joe dirt muscle car)is simply a overpriced Ram with a Hemi. Nice paint, nice interior, stock 20' ram wheels, and a cat back system. Same thing Ford did with the boss f-150. Every company does this. Chevy came out with the overpriced chevy ss. Everything is sharp looking untill you pop the hood. Not to say that a stock hemi, or 5.4L are bad, just nothing special.

Ok-- load 'em up boys-- I'm sticking my two cents into this and seein who shoots first.. LMFAO. To be honest I ruined my BOSS 5.4-- the emblems are gone, the goofy head rests are redone, and the mats are in storage as well. I hated those logos from the moment I saw them, but all that is irrelevant. What I DID see the first time I layed eyes on that orange and black truck is the truck that FORD SHOULD have built to honor the 100th anniversary of Harley Davidson. You can see a Harley f-150 and if it wasnt for the wheels and tailights it doesnt really jump out at you. Same for the silver and black version. Both are sharp trucks, but the orange and black BOSS 5.4 just screams Harley Davidson with that paint scheme. SO-- DUH, what do you think I did?
I created my OWN tribute to the 100th anniversary of Ford and Harley Davidson out of one of those BOSS trucks. Now it sports the anniversary badges, a PAXTON S/C, a super chip, headers and duals straight back, and a list of other minor goodies. The seats have Harley Logos on the headrests, and the HP now is roughly 370. (And yes, I do agree that the 5.4 should have been factory supercharged, but it wasn't, so what can ya do)
So there ya go boys. Start blasting me.
The BOSS 5.4 lovers will say I "devalued" the truck.
The Lightning lovers will say "ya still can't beat a lightning even after all that expense." I know, let me go cry now. I WISH I HAD A BLACK f-150-- man o man, what a one of a kind!! LMFAO.
And what about the REAL harley truck owners?
What do I think they'll say?
Probably nothing if they ride a scoot.
And if they dont ride then that says all that needs to be said about their trucks.
So load em up boys--
Take AIM and have fun..

This old outlaw is going to slither off somewhere and watch the sparks fly.

u guys dont know what ur talking about....the boss 5.4 was a f150 xlt reg cab, short box step side....la west puts a bodykit on it, 20 inch rims, details the int. with painted door panels leather seast and each truck has a decal somewhere proving its a boss(if you see one look for this decal, it has the production number on it) and they only came in grabber orange and grabber yellow...no mild performance upgrades other then the 20" rims....that is it, no superchargers
