Subject: Torque management request signal IP: Logged
Message: Anyone tried disconnecting the torque management request wire that goes between the engine computer and the transmission controller?(auto trans). I read about this on another board. Apparently the trans controller has sensors to monitor the input and output shafts on the trans which it uses, along with other sensors, to determine when you mash the gas at low speed/stopped conditions. The trans controller sends a signal to the engine computer to 'dial things down'. I guess it's to prevent wheel spin.
Is this true? Will it do anything?? Will it throw a code? Is it worth looking into??
Anyone have any input??

Message: If you fink out let me know. I've put a Kenne Bell S/C on and even their shifting isn't as hard as i would like. I was told they could only firm it up so much because of the torque managment that chrystler puts on. I was also told that you could snap a output shaft..........

Message: RaZoR1....I've got the pin out numbers for the
2001. I've read up on it, the Hemi guys are
doing it and the 2001 4.7's have the same set
up. I just have not had the time to try it. Let me
know I'll post it for you.

Message: I have a 93 5.2 Dakota that is popping and banging like the spark plug wires are crossed but they are not. The cam is only about a 278 it is a turbo cam.
It runs bad enough that I can't shift it into drive with out it dieing and it won't run, in less it is revved above about 1800 rpm. It surges at any rpm and backfires above 3000rpm
As for as I know the computer just has a factory timing setting and I don't know how to get around that, if that is the problem.
I put new springs in it with about .570 lift and I have a new timing chain and gears and it is set on the middle mark. But it probably doesn’t have anything to do with that. Any body know what is going on???
Do I just need a new computer with different timing settings?
When I turn the distributor it doesn't change the spark timing because the computer adjusts it up to a certain point then dies. Turning the distributor does change the fuel timing as far as I can tell.

Message: RaZoR1,
Sorry, but the computers look the
same, but they have different pin outs. You
need to find somebody with a 2000 FSM and
look it up. Take the pin out of the TCM that is
marked Torque Managemant Request.

Message: what exactly would it do if it worked right? are you saying there is a torque limiter to go along with the speed limiter? my god! it's like they give you a better motor that they don't want to be better, so they put all these limiters on it.next year there will be a midrange limiter to match the rest.

Message: When the transmission input and output
shafts are not in sync. (your turn'ng & burn'ng),
the TCM (trans. control module) sends a
signal (torque management request), to the
PCM, to retard the engine performance, to get
things back under control to preserve that 7
years, 70,000 warranty. Removing the wire
firms up the shifts, (like a mini shift kit). This
has been done on the 4.7's and 5.7's Rams.
It should work the same on the 4.7 auto Daks,
But nobody has tried it yet. Any takers????

The guys that are doing this are the RAM guys.
Sould be OK for us guys, less hp and less
weight with the same trans.
joey.....sorry but no.

of the engine compartment, forward of the
PCM. It is silver with fins on it and has one
long connector on it.
enigma....... On a 01 Auto, it is pin 10 on the
TCM it should be yellow/dark green. Take the
connector off, push in the tabs on the side and
push the pin out.
