Subject: Exhaust HELP???
IP: Logged

Message:
My brother has a 2000 Dakota SLT 4.7L V8. He wants to put on dual exhaust, (NOT TRUE DUAL). Is he going to need 2 mufflers or is that up to him? I know he wants the Dynomax Ultra-Flo muffler(s). Does anyone have this setup and can assist on the model # of the muffler(s) needed? ALSO what size piping should he use? 2-1/4 OR 2-1/2???

Thanks to all in advance!
Jeremy

well he is going to need to put 1 muffler on becuse 2 dont fit and he is going to need to run a 21/4 becuse the gas tank is a pain in the nack and you have to run the pipe right next to each other. what i did on my 99 dakota 5.2 i ran a flowmaster 40 in to a spilt 2/4 in pipes but i not no what size pipe comes off the caddy with the 4.7

Refer to the "4.7 Exhaust Drama" post on the Performance board. I've got a 4.7 with Flowmaster 70 single in/dual out. 2 1/2"" tailpipes with stainless side exits ala R/T. Have the muffler shop make a little "L" bracket to push your spare tire slightly to the right for clearance.

Alright I'm getting some where. So he'll need one muffler, single in/dual out. And it should be 2-1/4 dual out, possibly 2-1/2 out.

ANYONE know what size in?

ANYONE have dimesions of what muffler will fit under his truck?

Thanks AGAIN

I can't speak for the other brands, but Flowmasters have cone-shaped entrances and exits to accomodate a wide variety of pipe diameters. The 70 series I use is 22" long, with room to spare behind the 3rd cat. 50 is 16".
