Subject: airhat removal IP: Logged
Message: I've been looking at all the intake setups for the 4.7. I currently have an airaid and it works pretty good, but I am always looking for more power. Would it be possible to remove the airhat all together and bolt the filter directly to the thorttle body?

Message: i've never seen a 4.7 up close and that's the first time i have seen the throttle body setup...pretty neat. it looks like you could get an open element filter from an old TPI camaro and mount it to the TB

What is the last bend in that thing? 110 degrees? If there was one thing we learned in fluid dynamics, corners = bad!
Still, look cool! Got to be better than the stock one. :0) Can't help but wonder how it would run though, if the element was mounted directly in front of the TB... hmm... have to put a heat shield under it... make it an easy ram-air setup too. That'd be neat... hmm...
Dernit, why'd I have to get a V6? :0/ Not that I don't love my V6, but a 4.7 would have been sooo cool.

Message: The best setup I thought would be a airclear box that sat right on top of the manifold and drew air out of a small scoop in the hood. The hood would close down on it, making it a true cold air induction. now that I think would be cool.

Message: gotta get the shaker hood...looks like the best
way to get fresh cold air directly to the intake,
without cutting a hole in my hood, right above
the filter. would be cool though, kinda like rally
car style, a small hood scoop on one
side...hmmm too bad I've never done body
work before.
