Subject: Cleaner for cylinder head covers

Message:
Hi!
Getting ready to install the HO cams.

FSM says to clean cylinder head covers. Is Simple Green not harsh enough to clean the cylinder head covers?

Any other suggestions for a cleaner?

Thanks in advance

Simple Green will work really well for the outside, and maybe for the inside. If the engine is high mileage or has been run hard, you may find some carmelized oil on the inside corners. A brillo pad works well for that. A simple soft wire brush will quickly remove the silicone sealant without damaging the sealing surface.
