I read some of these posts with guys claiming light mods and running mid 14's. I have a 2000 4.7 auto Quad Cab with a kenne Bell charger. I have dynoed at 262 hrs and 317 torque. Auto governed my pull to 4200rpm. I do have chrome 18's with 255,45 tires. The best time I've gotten at the track is 15.2. How can guys with definetally less power pull these numbers??? Is my truck that heavy??? Do mmy tires slow me down that much??? I've raced a few RT's around town and have no problem beating them. What should i try???

What kind of 60' times are you getting? Try listing the time slip to help determine the problem. You should be running much faster than that....

I just came back from the track tonight. I ran a 15.7@86mph. I have an 03 4.7 RC 4x4 with a stick. My 60ft time was a 2.33. The track conditions was. About sea level and 30degrees out (NEW England weather for ya) the track was slick as a mother because of the temp and it beeing a street night. But i think i did pretty dame good. Oh yea the truck is completly bone stock

Nice run Pat. I have a 03 4.7L 4x4 R/C too but it's auto. I ran a 15.9 at 83 mph, 60' time was 2.25, seems as if the truck loses balls after 3rd gear. K&N drop in and flowmaster 2.5" single in/out are only mods.( besides brushgaurd step bars and linex bedliner).

Are you sure the SC is not in Valet mode. I have an 01 QC with KB SC 6psi and I'm pulling off low to mid 14's on 20's and street tires. Something is not right with your truck. Do you have a boost gauge?

I do not have a boost gauge but i have had the truck dyno'd and the numbers match that of the 6psi kit!! I am really dissapointed with the way the truck shifts into third. It takes like 2 seconds to finally get into gear. Torque management or something like that. Isd yours the same???

wow, i would be so pissed if i ran anything near 15 sec! best thing u can do is a custom suspension, no springs or coil overs! those are crap. 5.9 rt w/ custon suspension and sway bars, k&n cold air kit, jba headers, 3in full cat with flowmaster. 4.7 sec 0-60, 14 flat in 1/4. i cant wait to see my time when i run it with 4:10s

Mines not like that at all, mine hauls ass through the gears, now that its getting colder out I spin through second gear and scratch in third on an auto. You have the optimizer II right? That is what makes the huge difference in how hard it shifts. If you have that, then I'm not sure what else to tell you. Have you checked to make sure all the vac lines are hooked up. Sometimes one can come off and make it run like crap.

I've checked every line twice. The thing runs fine. I do have the Opt II. I was told that they could not firm up the third shift because of Torque Management. I don't know.....sound like a load af crap to me. If the thing would slam into third i know i would see some better times. I* hope my tranny is not on its way out. It's shifted the same since i've gotten the charger on. I've only gone to the track twice but i'm cuttting pretty good lights. I don't load the torque converter though.... I'm going to have to wait till next year cuz all the tracks up here are closed. Masybe with some more practise i'll do better. Have any of you guys with Kenne Bell and auto trans ever dyno your truck???(4.7)...

Your 60' time is bad. 2.44 not very good. Do you spin off the start? I have an auto too and I preload to about 1500 rpm or so. (Give it gas while you hold the brake down). Almost like your going to power stand but don't gas it too much. This should help your 60' time, as for your reaction time that just needs practice.

HAHAHA....... ya that was pretty bad. I usuallly averaged around a .6 light. I fell asleep on that one. I actually got a .501 light once. I really didn't notice bad tire spin. I was worried that with the Kenne Bell that if I pre-loaded to around 2000 when i lifted off the gas the tires would spin due to the full boost. I need more time to try different tricks. I'm going to try different tires next year. These 18's i have on are extrememly HEAVY!!!!!

Your 60ft does suck big balls, but your mph in the traps is what we need to look at.

There is something wrong.
You should be trapping much higher than 90mph. You should be trapping between 95(minimum) and 98 or so.

There is a weak link somewhere. I don't know what, but it's definitely down on power.

Sounds to me like all of your boost is escaping through the bypass, because it sure doesn't seem like it's making it into the engine.

What should i do. Should i take it back the the shop that put it on and get them to install a boost gauge?? The dyno numbers where what i was expecting though.... that's the thing. I'm also still governed at 96 mph. I really thought i would be hitting the governor in the quarter.

What is the setup of your truck?

I think I heard you say quad on 18's?

Is it auto? 4x4? 500lb speaker boxes?

How much do those quads weigh?

What did it run stock? You should expect to cut 1full second off with a completely stock truck, and with little exhaust work, and tuning anywhere up to 2 seconds.

I say before taking it back, put some sticky tires on it, and give it a go again. If memory serves right, I think I saw a quad over here go 15.8-9's at 83mph one night. You're not too far off one full sec faster, but get your spinning under control, and see what it does.

Mine runs 13.2's on slicks, but without them runs 13.6's-8's... BIG difference there.

I'm going to try different tires next year and take some weight out then i'll see. Just have to wait for spring/summer. It's starting to get cold..... winter sucks big balls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
