I was wondering if any of you have ever seen ghost flames... I've got a really fast black dakota and I am planning to get a cowl hood and I am considering the flames too. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks

the ghost flames are really hard to see on black vehicles. go with maby a purple or blue.

go down the whole truck with the flames, not just the front fenders and part of the door, like some guys do. i dont think it looks as good

If you truck is black, you could try using A metallic black paint or black to silver pearl paint for the flames.
I agree the flames would look better going past the doors.

I have a flame red 5.2L with a cowl hood and ghost flames. The flames are hard to see on pretty much any color truck...that's why they're called "ghost" flames. The time of day and type of light depends on when and how well you can see them. But by the way- they catch alot of attention and are SWEET! I'll send you a pic if you give me your email address.

I have the silver flames with black edges on them. You could do kinda a reversal and have the edges silver.

There is a place in Columbus Ohio called Air Tight Graphics. They do VERY VERY good work , but you pay for it. I was lookin to get emerald green ghost flames , not very wide about 4 to 5" wide from the front fender , licking along to the top of the rear fender. I was lookin at aruond $2,500.00 to $3,000.00 Like I said they do VERY good work. My friend had them paint his motorcycle wheels about 2 years ago , and they have not chipped or faded at all.

Hey how ya doing?Ghost flames eh well let me tell you they can be tricky.I;ve done them in candy paint jobs before thats the easyiest way,but for you having a black truck you may try a purple pearl ,a dark blue pearl or even a red blood pearl.I use RM,House of Kolors, and Dupont. There are so many different choices.

Thanks Panter. I'm still waiting to get it done. I'm thinking about Silver, with green tips. Or maybe Copper, the colour of the CopperHead truck that Stacy did on the t.v program Trucks.

Yeah, I do want ghost flames. Are you saying you cant get it done in 2 different colures? After February I'm going to be doing this and a new hood. Carbonfiber, painted black except a Rams Head and shield with flames, leaving that carbon. Kinda like a stenscil. Then outline that with the silver fading into the ghost flames, with just the tips ghosted in a slight colour. Trust me, looks great in my head, but I don't know if the 2 colours can be done, and still be "ghost". Let me know man, thanks.

ITS ME AGAIN.ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE TO A POINT.LET ME PUT A VISION IN YOUR HEAD,A SILVER TRUCK THEN SPRAY BLACK OVER IT.ITHINK YOU WOULD SEE THAT IT STANDS OUT LARGE.THATS WHY I SUGGESTED DARK COLORS.NOW ANOTHER THING TO MAYBE SAVE YOU SOME COIN.FORGET THE CARBON HOOD IF YOU PLAN ON PAINTING MOST OF IT.GO FIBERGLASS IF YOU WANT A DIFFERENT LOOK AND DO THE RAM FLAME IN A GUN METAL GREY!PROBLY HALF THE PRICE & LOOK MORE CUSTOM!I HAVE LOTS OF IDEAS.

I had a fiberglass hood all picked out, but after seeing some in real life, I noticed small crackes in them. I'm WAY to picky for that.

You got me thinking about the red blood pearl. That would look cool. The reason I wanted silver though, is my truck is black, and everything on it is chrome or stainless steel. Even the custom window tint is silver. Not ALL of it is silver on the tint, just the ram flame.
Thanks for the ideas, Keep 'em comming!!

Just for grins, if you're at all interested in seeing what ghost flames look like on a red street rod, I would be happy to send a photo that was taken in a studio with smoke and lighting used to help accentuate them.
