probably not much because its got the stock bottom end so its got the stock compression. The motor is just gonna be the test motor to get a big block in there and then i am gonna build my stroker motor for it.

You should put a 440 crank in there and make that sucker a 451! Nice engine though

this motor is just gonna be the foundation to future motors. My goal with it is just to get it in the truck and have it run.

My next one will be a 400 bored .030 over, custom stroker pistons and a 440 crank stroked to 4.15"... it would be around 500 ci then... but who knows, this might be too much power as is.

My friend just bought the stroker kit for his 400, to make it a 451, hes putting on the edlebrock aluminum heads and lots of other goodies. He plans to install it in his 88 dakota, should be interesting.

yeah the 451 is easy to do. All you have to do is get 400 block, 440 crank and 440 rods.

Hell, you can find the parts really cheap and just have a machine shop do the work for you... would be just about the cheapest stroker kit out there

Are you saying you can stroke that engine with just those stock parts? I mean NO aftermarket special length rods or pistons with the wrist pin moved?

Damn. Makes me want to go find an OLD Demon or something LOL!

I like those motors.

And LOVE that EaSY 4 bolt water pump!

you have to get different "custom" pistons... but i have talked to a few people and they are so common that they cost just a little more than stock pistons would. The journals on the 440 crank would have to be turned down a little, thats it.

so far i have figured a couple of them out. I am gonna keep the stock computer so with the oil pressure gauge and coolant sensor connected to the motor, i can still use those. My speedo will be fine because i am using a factory rearend. I am gonna use my factory fuel pump assembly to keep the gauge working but just have a regulator on the motor and a return line or just turn the volts down on the pump. Not sure yet. Only one i know for a fact that i will not be able to use is the tachometer. I am gonna try to use the voltometer but i am unsure of it.

Looks like the makings of a wicked package! If you will end up with a larger motor later you should seriously consider replacing the rear end, I would also dump the factory computor if all you are doing is run a couple of gauges. Make a custom dash insert and run aftermarket gauges. You will most probably run into issues in attempting to run the fuel pump at a lower voltage (burn up pump). Install a fuel cell where the spare sits and use a mechanical pump ?

most of that stuff will come later when i decide to put this thing on a trailor. I am gonna run the stock 8.25 until it blows up... then i will probably get a 9.25. I want to keep the interior together as much as possible.
