Message: Very interesting info here, but I have a few questions if you don't mind. I don't understand what you did to break the cam sprocket bolt loose. I won't deny that I have messed up a chain guide trying to get it loose but with 175k on the clock it was needing replacement anyway. Just hope I can find all the pieces so I don't have to drop the pan too. I also found a bad tensioner too. I would have gotten one of those spanners if I could have found one but...... anyway I have a blown head gasket and need to pop that darn sprocket bolt. Is that chain holding tool necessary? what do you guys do about the rockers? I saw a valve spring compressor tool that works on the vehicle but it was for 03 and up... mine is an 02.... When doing the chains do you need to remove the Idler sprocket bolt too and if so same question... that's the story of my life...and I'm an old guy.
BTW does anyone else have the two rear exhaust manifold bolts broken off? Mine went at about 135k.
Any help would be appreciated.
