Subject: Help: Need 98 R/T PCM Part Number
IP: Logged

Message:
I found a wrecked 1998 yellow R/T Dakota Club-Cab in a junkyard yesterday. The junkyard had already removed the PCM from the truck and put it on a shelf with about 30 other PCM's.

They don't know which PCM came out of the R/T and neither do I.

I called the dealer and said that they could not give me a part number unless I gave them the VIN number. Well, the junkyard does not want to give out the VIN.

Now is the dealer blowing smoke up my a$$ or what? Does anyone have a valid 98 R/T PCM part number for a two wheel drive Dak with an auto?

Also, the dealer said that a new PCN runs about $800.00. Is that the going rate for a new PCM?

My last question is this: I havew a 97 Dak with the 5.2. If I put a 98 R/T PCM in my 97 Dak, will it work? Any advantages or disadvantages?

Can you even put a 5.9 PCM on a 5.2? We are only talking about a displacement difference of .7 liters here.
Any ever try this mod? Is it worht it?

Thanks to all that decide to reply!!!

Regards, ARG

Well, it is yellow bcause I've seen it. The junkyard probably does not know what year it is.

Thanks for the part numbers!
