I am in search of more power for less money. Now I have set me search on the computer. Do those Jet chips work good on 5.2's? I heard something about the venoms as well. If anyone has a chip on their 5.2(specificaly 93') please tell me what you think, your previous bolt ons, price, and part #. Oh yeah, can you un plug the chip whenever you want?

I have a Jet II chip on my 98 5.2 and love it, of course I only paid $50 for it too, but it made a big difference on mine.

Peace,
Rascal

I had the Mopar PCM on my 93 5.2 and it was sweet. The factory claimed 25 HP and I am a believer in that. It picked up a good .4 or .5 sec in the 1/4 mile and made the truck traction limited. It cost about $250 at the time and I got to keep the stock PCM. I don't believe the venom changes much at wide open throttle, and I've heard the stock computer will compensate for the jet chip every couple of weeks which requires resetting the PCM to maintain the advantage. I don't know what they charge for the MP PCM now but they show up used every now and then on E-bay (I already sold my old one and just spent $150 for MP PCM for my 2000). The mods I did to the 93 were, removing the tailgate, spair, rear bumper, and exhaust system behind the cat. I removed the intake baffle in the grill, I switched to MSD wires and an accell coil. I had a drop in K&N, and put on some old 225/65/15's for the track. It was a 93 RC, 4x2, LE, 5.2/automatic, with 3.55 LS rear end. It ran a 15.9 right off the showroom floor and with all those minor mods and the PCM it ran a 14.9 at Sears Point Raceway.

Is that the same pcm they advertise in summit(its the only mopar pcm in there)? Is it just a simple bolt on or what?

It bolted in and out with about 4 small screws and took all of 2 minutes. I did live in Cali when I had my 93, I bought it from the Dodge dealer in Walnut Creek in 93. We then moved to Eureka, Ca and bought a house and one car had to go, the 2 seat Dakota lost out to the minivan! Plus it still had better resale. We moved back to our homestate of Montana after I got out of the Navy and I finally got a Dakota back again last year, a 2000 SY RC R/T which actually only cost $2500 more then I paid for the 93, although the 2000 was 10 months old and had 10,000 miles on it. I've never had the R/T on the track, but I defenately feel it is faster stock then the 93 was with mods, even at 3000 ft altitude where we live. Summit I think does sell the MP PCM but I bet it is less through some of the other guys, I bought mine from Westoaks Dodge's mailorder shop, but Mancini Dodge is probably less:

Yeh here it is, http://store.yahoo.com/chucker54/noname6.html
They charge $249 for it new. I'm sure this thing will smoke a Jet, and probably doesn't cost any more then the Jet.

The mopar PCM is the same one as in summit. I have one in my 94' and it has been good to me so far. I am curious though as to whether a dealer could just reprogram a stock one. I checked around when I had to get a new tranny to make sure the PCM could be fixed if it was damaged and both the local dealer and the trans shop claimed to be able to fix them. That leads me to believe they could be modified by a dealer. Anyway, it takes noxt to no time to hok it up and only one wrench. I was actually able to do it outside my dorm where I had very limited amounts of tools.
