I'm rebuilding my motor right now and would like to know the biggest bore people have had success with on 4.7's?

Thanks
Chuck

Due to core shift in casting, not all blocks can be bored the same. Have a sonic check done on YOUR block if you want to know how far you can go.

Haha, I bet that would result in saying they're too thin to even run from the factory. The bores on these are super thin, but they are stronger at the top where the most cylinder pressure is made. Nice design actually. I was just curious to know what people have done. I'll look into sonic checking.

The real question would be what oversize pistons are available anyway? I doubt there is anything more than .020 or .030 over pistons for this motor.

Nah, that doesn't matter because I'm ordering a custom set from JE anyways. I'm supercharging this motor...

Thanks

Well then, there is no point in boring a motor for increasing displacement, the gain would be very little.Just get it bored enough to true the cylinders and get them to make the top ring land lower on the piston.
