99 with a 318 - I went to check the coolant level and the dipstick is missing. Can I use a stick with the depth info from someone here, or do I have to go to DC and buy a new one? :-(

I would purchase a new one. In addition to allowing you to efficiently check the oil level, it keeps the dirt and water out of the tube that the dipstick normally sits in.
Plus, if you find it where the above post says it is, I don't know if I would want it in my oil...
I wonder how Foundit knows where it is?

Funny you bring that up. I was driving across country a few months ago, and went to check my oil after about 2 days on the road, and my entire dipstick was laying on the engine, out of its tube! And I had oil sprayed all over the engine and under the hood. Wierd huh? I've driven back across country since, and checked it daily and it's never done it since.

it's the coolant dipstick not the oil dipstick so there's no open hole.
