Message: pull your plugs, using a breakerbar turn the motor(the bolt on the crank at the front of your motor, MUST BE TURNED CLOCKWISE.) to top dead center on the compression stroke. Drop in the distributerand line it up to the #1 terminal.
Thats it, your timing will be automatically set by the computer .You can't set it or control it, without flashing your comp. to do so.

Message: When I move the dist. the engine does run differently. Does the computer adjust the timing no matter where the dist. is? What I mean is.....There is say, about 25 degrees of avaliable movement in the dist setting. Does it set the timing correct if it is within this 25 degree range? Also, Please tell me the location of #1 terminal. If I where standing at the front of the truck, is the #1 terminal at the 6,7,8 or 9 O'clock postion? Thanks for all your help......Tony

Message: it will tell you where the terminal is on the cap. When you move the distributer the computer will learn a new adjustment and reset itself

Message: turn engine clock wise[when looking at motor from front of truck]
theres a timing mark on harmonic balancer, line this line up with the TDC 0 degrees on the timing tab on the timing chain cover[drivers side]
make sure #1 is on compression stroke[remove 1st plug on driver side this is #1]
now remove the dist cap, rotor button should be pointing at #1 on cap
now theres aline on the plastic piece in the dist
line that up with the rotor button by moving the dist oneway orthe other
with this done tightin dist down
you just indexed your dist
truck should run fine.
good luck
