Subject: K&N Intake IP: Logged
Message: I have a '98 dak ext cab with K&N air filter. I would assume it is stock. I don't know though, only had the truck for about a month now and I get about 14.5 mpg ave. I would like better gas mileage. I haven't really looked into it, but I don't know what the cold air intake is for my truck. I heard this will help with the mileage. Is it the weird looking cone filter. The one I have is square and is in a case or box, whatever you want to call it. Oh I have a V8 5.2L 318. Please advise. Post or e-mail me. Thanks!

Message: Yes, the cone shaped filter is what they are talking about when they talk about cold air intake. If you still have the box with air filter inside it, you may have a K&N drop in replacement filter or just a stock filter. You need the cold air intake (K&N FIPK) to see any gains in gas mileage.
